3/365: Okay I might be a little late with posting this, but EXIF data doesn’t lie. FYI, the EXIF info displayed right below the photo and right above this paragraph is auto-generated. And yes, that is the exact date and time the shutter was activated to expose this photo.
Dad was supposed to catch this 11am flight heading West, so we had to rush to Gambir Street just to grab a few of these lovely layer cakes for him to pass to our relatives back in KL. Stiff competition amongst layer cake-hawkers along Kuching’s legendary Gambir Street pushed prices down to MYR9 apiece if you buy them in sets of five. Damn – layer cakes that size used to cost around MYR20-ish only a few years ago.
The morning light, although diffused by ever-present rainclouds above Kuching, caused the slight over-exposure you see on the plastic containers. Well at least they moderate the otherwise eye-popping colours of these yes – edible layer cakes. Oh and did I mention that they’re seriously good?
Wow, looking nice! The over-exposure of the plastic containers didn’t really bother me much since it’s quite natural for scenes with such a huge actual dynamic range. I’ve never seen layer cakes (or whatever they’re called) that are so colourful before
mmmmph makes me hungry. Glad that you’re thinking of your KL relatives when it comes to food!
I hope the rain clears up someday too! So that you can take more high speed shots like the water droplet one, heh. Good luck!
I should’ve gone for shooting in RAW for that psuedo-HDR effect like you did with your jumping fountain shot then! Haha. Well I did adjust the curves a bit to make the colours pop out a little but yeah, layer cakes here in Kuching are really that colourful, and really tasty too I might add!
Now that you mention rain! It was actually sunny today – for the first time in weeks! But I was too busy repainting the house to take any high speed shots. Kinda regret that now in case tomorrow decides to rain again. =(
