8/365: Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

No points to those of you who’ve guessed today’s (and by that I mean yesterday’s) photo would be of fireworks. ;D The usual hour-long fireworks display signaling the arrival of the Lunar New Year was smashing as always. Its past 2am now and the smoke is still as thick as ever, the smell of gunpowder still lingering in the air.

This particular bloom was launched into the sky just not more than 10 metres away from me and thus, exploded right above my head. The shot was made possible with my camera trained at the sky on a 85+ degree angle on a tripod. I had to twist the zoom all the way to 18mm wide angle and even with that the whole thing didn’t fit in.

Anyway, it’s late and I’m exhausted. Gotta run, tomorrow’s the big day!

Edit: I know this photo was taken at 12:00am on the 26th of January, which technically means I missed out on posting a photo for Day 8 which falls on 25th of January. But since this is a countdown event and this is just a one of a whole set of photos (there are 111 of them, FYI) I’ve took before and after midnight, we could probably let this one pass.

Edit #2: For some reason the auto-generated EXIF data detected by WP displays the shutter speed at 40 seconds, which is obviously far from what is in the photo’s original EXIF data – 4 seconds. Hrrm.
