Earth Hour 09 Kuching

61/365: Earth Hour ’09 was a lot different in many ways. The publicity, the participation, the perception of the whole initiative. I have a post brewing on the topic and how I spent my Earth Hour.

Debates and arguments on the Earth Hour initiative aside, laid-back Kuching did its best to participate in the worldwide event. You tell me. Spot the difference.

Oh, the Hilton turned off the lights on their sign… and kudos to the room guests on the floor second from the highest one – many of them turned off the lights! It’s a little sad that the local municipal council didn’t turn off the lights on the sidewalk though :(

    Happy Earth Hour!

Indeed, Teddy. It’s sad they didn’t even participate at all this time – even smaller municipal councils across the state pledge to flick the switch but not Kuching’s.

Hilton’s sign is obvious, but the room guests are a good spot. There are two more hotel signs (big hint there) that were turned off too, might be a little hard to spot but I’m daring you to, haha! =P

Errrr..not much different, I can only spot that Hilton turned off their logo. Haha..
I thought for the Earth Hour, they will turn off those lights along the river.

The lights that run along the waterfront are in control of our city municipal council. And sadly, they didn’t announce participation in Earth Hour. Bummer.

What a disappointment that more didn’t participate.

Great photos, though. I see a few differences!

    1. The second highest floor of the Hilton! (I didn’t notice the Hilton sign being off until I read Teddy’s comment, haha.. was pretty obvious.)
    2. There is the signs (not sure what buildings they are) but there’s a red sign off and a blue one from the one next to it. Am I right? :) There’s also a red light on top of the building to the left that is off in the bottom photo. Not sure if that’s a sign though. ..Was fun spotting the differences though! I missed those. lol
